Bandipora, August 27: The District Tennis Ball Cricket Championship Bandipora 2026 concluded on Thursday at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Nadihal, with 24 teams from different schools and clubs across the district participating in the tournament.
The championship was organised by the District Tennis Ball Cricket Association Bandipora in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and was held from August 25 to 27.
The knockout-format tournament featured participation from boys and girls across different age categories, providing young players an opportunity to compete against teams from other schools and clubs and showcase their talent.
In the U-17 boys final, Hyderabad Kings Aragam defeated Universal Educational Trust to clinch the title. In the U-14 girls category, Universal Educational Trust emerged victorious over BMS Kaloosa, while in the U-14 boys final, HSS Nadihal defeated Blooming Buds Computer School Bandipora to emerge as the winners.
Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School Nadihal, Mohammad Hussain Magray, attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest, while Javid Ahmad, Physical Teacher, HSS Nadihal, was the guest of honour. Brand Ambassador of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, the chief guest appreciated the organisers for providing school-going children with a platform to compete at the district level. He said such tournaments help students gain match experience, develop confidence and sportsmanship, while also allowing promising players to showcase their abilities beyond their respective schools.
Faisal Ali Dar appreciated the efforts of the organisers and said sports play an important role in keeping youth engaged in positive activities and away from drugs and other harmful habits. He said such championships provide young athletes with competitive exposure and help create opportunities for talented players to progress to higher levels.
The best-performing players from the championship will be considered for selection for the upcoming State Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, scheduled to be held in Kulgam next month.
The concluding ceremony was followed by the prize distribution, with winning teams receiving trophies and medals, while runners-up teams were also presented with trophies.
