A Landmark Celebration: PM Shri GSS Laharwalpora Hosts Historic Food Festival

Bandipora, April 30: In a pioneering initiative for the Bandipora region, PM Shri Government Secondary School (GSS) Laharwalpora transformed its campus into a vibrant “living classroom” today, hosting a grand Food Festival.

The event seamlessly integrated experiential learning, cultural preservation, and student leadership, marking a significant milestone in local vocational education.

A Tapestry of Culture and Collaboration
The festival saw hundreds of students arrive in vibrant traditional attire, turning the school grounds into a celebration of Kashmiri heritage. The event was a masterclass in inter-school synergy, featuring enthusiastic participation from:
Primary School Fishermen Colony
Primary School Malla Mohalla
Primary School Farhang Mohalla
Middle School Reshi Mohalla

The festivities opened with a soulful joint assembly, featuring Tilawat-e-Quran and Naat, followed by a series of student-led speeches. A standout Ladishah performance captivated the audience, using traditional satirical storytelling to highlight the region’s rich cultural values.

Culinary Excellence & Student Leadership
The heart of the festival lay in the student-managed food stalls. Demonstrating impressive entrepreneurial spirit, students curated a menu of local delicacies, including:
Traditional Favorites: Gaad Munj (fish with lotus stem), Gaari Chouch, and Naat Tehri.
Heritage Brews: The iconic Nun Chai, served authentically from a Samovar.
Modern Touches: Freshly prepared chicken specialties and potato chips.

Beyond cooking, the students were responsible for the entire “business cycle”—from budgeting and preparation to marketing and explaining the nutritional and cultural history of their dishes to guests.

Redefining the Classroom
The Headmaster, in his address, underscored the event’s role in modern pedagogy:
“This festival is more than a celebration; it is an innovative educational platform. By moving beyond the four walls of a classroom, our students are mastering creativity, responsibility, and social confidence in real-time.”

Key Educational Pillars
The initiative successfully addressed several core developmental goals:
Experiential Learning: Bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Entrepreneurship: Developing early-stage skills in finance and hospitality.
Cultural Preservation: Honoring the culinary traditions of the Bandipora district.
Resilience: Despite cloudy skies and intermittent showers, the students’ enthusiasm remained undeterred, adding a cozy, atmospheric charm to the outdoor stalls.

A Legacy of Success
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Javid Jawad, who expressed gratitude to the participating schools, media, and the community for their unwavering support.
By blending academic goals with cultural pride, PM Shri GSS Laharwalpora has set a new benchmark for holistic development in government schools, proving that when students are given the lead, the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
