The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on Sunday announced the cancellation of the OMR-based written examination for the posts of Junior Engineer (Electrical), Power Development Department, which was conducted earlier in the day.
In an official notice issued by the Controller Examination, JKSSB a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, it was stated that the exam, scheduled from 11:00 a.m. at 35 centres across Jammu and Srinagar districts, had to be rescheduled to 12:00 noon due to weather-related exigencies. While the test was successfully conducted at 34 venues, it could not be held at one centre.
“In view of this, the Board has decided to cancel the examination and conduct it afresh. The fresh dates for the examination will be notified separately,” the notice read.
The cancellation comes amid growing concerns over the conduct of recruitment examinations in J&K. Earlier in the day, protests erupted in Srinagar after aspirants alleged mismanagement and a possible paper leak during the same JE (Electrical) exam.
Videos also surfaced on social media showing students with OMR sheets and mobile phones at exam centres, drawing widespread criticism of JKSSB’s handling of the process. (JKNS)
