Sumit Jandyal murder case: Jammu-Kashmir Police arrest 11, expose revenge plot

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended 11 people, including two minors, for their involvement in Sumit Jandyal’s killing. The victim was shot dead on January 21 near Jewel Rotary by unknown attackers.
SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate Jandyal’s murder.
After firing multiple shots, the perpetrator escaped on a stolen grey scooty.
Nowabad police transported the wounded victim to GMC Jammu, where doctors declared him deceased. Senior officers inspected the scene, and police teams were dispatched in various directions.

The attackers were identified through human intelligence, technical surveillance, and CCTV footage analysis. The SIT conducted extensive raids across Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh due to the case’s gravity.
The investigation uncovered that the murder stemmed from a longstanding feud between Vikas Slathia, also known as Vicky Slathia, and Sumit Jandyal. Slathia allegedly orchestrated the murder to avenge his associate Akshay Kumar’s death.
Police reports indicate that the Vicky Slathia group killed Akshay Kumar in 2023 at Ramgarh. Later, during a police operation at GMC Kathua, an exchange of fire resulted in PSI Deepak Sharma’s death and the elimination of notorious criminal Vasudev Kumar, alias Shunnu. Vikas Slathia purportedly planned Jandyal’s murder in retaliation.
Harsh Singh, known as Banta, maintained contact with Vikas Slathia and was responsible for recruiting shooters.
The perpetrators rented accommodation in Shastri Nagar for the murder’s execution and sourced weapons from outside Jammu and Kashmir.
A week before the incident, they purchased a car for Rs 1,05,000 to carry out the murder. The accused monitored Sumit Jandyal’s movements for four months.
Police recovered two cars and a scooty used in the crime from various locations in Jammu and Samba.
The investigation has revealed the complete murder conspiracy, leading to the arrest of 11 individuals, including two minors. The arrested comprise shooters, conspirators, and those who provided support. Police continue their efforts to capture remaining suspects.
Jammu Police are examining financial transactions related to the murder’s planning and execution. They have identified the primary conspirator, who allegedly directed operations from abroad, and are pursuing his deportation.
