Parents asked to keep children away from streams and nallahs; emergency helpline numbers issued

Bandipora, July 22: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Wednesday urged people to stay away from rivers, streams and other water bodies in view of the prevailing weather conditions and rising water levels.

During a field visit to Sonerwani, Bonar Nallah and adjoining areas, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to residents not to venture near water bodies and to strictly follow all safety advisories issued by the district administration and other concerned agencies.

She also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and ensure they do not go near water bodies, stressing that extra vigilance is essential during the prevailing weather conditions.

Emphasising that no work or activity is worth risking one’s life, Chib said, “If life is safe, everything else can be achieved,” and asked people to prioritise their safety above all else.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any emergency to the District Control Room on 7006526985 or 7006328689 for prompt assistance.

She further sought public cooperation with the administration, urging residents to avoid unnecessary movement near water bodies and remain alert until the weather situation improves.
