Omar Suffers ‘Double Setback’: Jantar Mantar Protest Failed, Remarks on Article 370 Validate BJP’s Stand, Says Altaf Thakur

Srinagar, July 21 [NEWSEYE] : BJP Jammu & Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Tuesday claimed that the National Conference (NC) suffered a “double setback,” alleging that its protest at Jantar Mantar failed to garner support from major political parties and that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s remarks on Articles 370 and 35A reaffirmed the BJP’s long-held position.

In a statement, Thakur said the NC’s much-publicised protest in New Delhi did not receive the backing of any significant political party, which, according to him, reflects the party’s political isolation at the national level.

Referring to Omar Abdullah’s press conference, Thakur claimed that the Chief Minister acknowledged that the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A is not a realistic possibility. He said the remarks validate the BJP’s consistent stand on the constitutional changes made in August 2019.

The BJP leader described the developments as a political setback for the National Conference and reiterated that the party’s position on the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A has remained unchanged.[NEWSEYE]
