Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the true integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country cannot be achieved through coercive measures but only through mutual acceptance, trust and emotional bonding.

Replying to MLA Jasrotia during the discussion on the Vote of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s address in the Legislative Assembly, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, CM Omar said, “Jasrotia Sahab spoke about Jammu and Kashmir being fully integrated with India. But integration does not happen through PSA, arrests or force. Integration happens through hearts. Accept us from your heart, believe from your heart that you are ours and we are your only then will real integration take place. That is the integration both you and we dream of.”

On the reservation issue, the Chief Minister informed the House that the proposal approved by the Cabinet has already been forwarded to the Union Home Ministry through the Lieutenant Governor for further consideration.

Referring to protests over the reservation matter, CM Omar said those demonstrating should take their concerns to the appropriate authority. “Those who felt proud protesting outside my residence should now protest outside the Home Minister’s residence. Let them meet the Union Home Minister, who is visiting Jammu and Kashmir, and submit a memorandum to him,” he said.

Chief Minister reiterated that the Cabinet has formally submitted its recommendations on reservation to the Lieutenant Governor.

Expressing optimism over administrative reforms, CM Omar said he hopes that existing anomalies in the Transaction of Business Rules would be addressed soon. “I am hopeful that the anomalies in the Transaction of Business Rules will be rectified in the coming days,” he added.— (KNC)
