DC Srinagar Steps Up Health Outreach Across District

To ensure timely and effective delivery of benefits under major health sector flagship schemes, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Tuesday convened a meeting with senior health functionaries at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive medical zone and block-wise review of citizen-centric health schemes, with a particular focus on enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), coverage of eligible beneficiaries under the Ayushman Vay Vandana (AVV) scheme, and the implementation of Tuberculosis (TB) control and surveillance measures across the district.

While reviewing the enrolment status of senior citizens under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, the DC emphasized the need for mass awareness and swift registration to enable elderly citizens to avail free and cashless healthcare services. He directed that all eligible individuals aged 70 years and above must be brought under the scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed Zonal and Block Medical Officers, along with other concerned officials, to intensify their efforts to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.

On the occasion, it was informed that over 12,000 senior citizens in Srinagar district have already been provided Ayushman Vay Vandana (AVV) cards, entitling them to additional free health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.

Reviewing the zone-wise progress of ABHA enrolment, the DC stressed the need to accelerate registration drives to achieve comprehensive coverage targets across the district.

The DC also took stock of the progress under the Tuberculosis (TB) control programme. He appreciated the District TB Control Team for achieving satisfactory progress and directed them to meet the remaining targets at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of ensuring better patient care facilities in all health institutions, particularly in view of the prevailing weather conditions.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahir Sajad; Medical Superintendents of JLNM, SMHS and CD Hospitals; District Tuberculosis Officer; all Zonal Medical Officers and Block Medical Officers of Srinagar district.
