Thunder Roars, Rain Pours: J&K Braces for a Stormy Night

The Jammu and Kashmir Meteorological Department on Thursday night issued a nowcast alert predicting moderate to intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several parts of the Union Territory over the next six to eight hours.

The alert, issued at 10 PM, warns that certain areas may experience high-intensity rain, which could result in localized flash floods. The department has urged residents to stay indoors and avoid venturing out during the period of severe weather activity.

“Moderate to intense showers of rain accompanied with moderate to severe thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds are likely at many places of J&K during the next 6–8 hours,” the statement read.

Authorities have been alerted to remain prepared for any emergency response in vulnerable areas. —(NewsEye)
