Srinagar: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has questioned what she described as the “censoring” of several Kashmir-based media organisations, including Greater Kashmir, Kashmir Life, and Rising Kashmir, at a time when people in the region are expressing grief and solidarity over recent developments in Iran.
In a post on X, Mufti asked why the government was restricting media platforms during a sensitive period and urged authorities to reverse the actions. She called for the protection of press freedom and democratic rights.
Mufti also appealed to social media platforms such as Meta, Facebook, and Instagram not to “gag freedom of expression” or silence public voices. She urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to stop what she termed as media censorship in the region.
