Bandipora, February 06: The District Administration Bandipora today issued the diversion and closure of the Sumbal–Chewa/Naninara inner link road in view of the ongoing construction of a new bridge at Naninara.
As per the advisory, the Srinagar–Bandipora road had earlier been restricted to one-way traffic due to bridge construction works. Officials informed that the foundation and substructure work on the Sumbal side had been completed, while further excavation on the Safapora side was set to commence. The executing agency reported that due to loose soil conditions and ongoing construction activities, there was a strong likelihood of road caving, posing a serious risk to commuters.
It was further stated that the excavation work would leave no space for traffic movement, making it unsafe to allow vehicular movement on the inner link road.
Therefore, in order to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth execution of construction works, the administration has decided to close the inner link road at Naninara on both sides for all vehicular traffic with effect from 7:00 AM, February 06, until further orders.
The public is advised to strictly adhere to the alternate traffic plan via Barsoo, Ganderbal, already notified by the authorities. Concerned departments were directed to ensure proper diversion, barricading, and installation of signage at the site to avoid inconvenience and ensure safety.
The District Administration sought cooperation from the general public in the larger interest of safety and development.
