Bandipora, 16 September 2025 : Executive Body of the District Bar Association Bandipora met MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat to discuss the urgent need for establishing a District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) in the district.
During the meeting, Bar Association submitted a formal representation addressed to the Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD), Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The representation highlighted that, despite being a full-fledged district, Bandipora lacks a Consumer Forum, forcing residents to travel to distant districts for grievance redressal, resulting in financial and procedural difficulties.
MLA Nizamuddin Bhat assured the delegation of his full support and immediately communicated the matter to the Minister, CAPD, as well as the Chief Minister’s Office. A meeting with the Chief Minister has also been arranged to fast-track the establishment of the DCDRC in Bandipora.
The discussion also covered other infrastructure requirements for the upcoming new Court Complex, including the provision of dedicated/hotline electricity supply and installation of a borewell to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
MLA Bhat expressed appreciation for the proactive approach of the Bar Association and reiterated his commitment to ensuring the welfare of the people of Bandipora.
