In the wake of the recent unethical vlog incident uncovered by NewsEye, the Medical Superintendent of Government Lalla Ded Hospital (LDH), Srinagar, has issued strict new directives to all staff, tightening regulations on photography and videography within the hospital premises.
The hospital administration has categorically banned all forms of video recording and photography, especially in highly sensitive areas such as the Labour Room and Operation Theatres, where patient privacy is paramount.
“All doctors, paramedics, and other hospital staff are hereby instructed to desist from making videos or taking photographs inside the hospital premises,” the Medical Superintendent said in a formal notice issued today. “The dignity, privacy, and honor of maternity and lactating mothers being treated in this institution must be respected and protected at all costs.”
As part of the new measures, warning signboards have now been prominently displayed throughout the hospital, particularly in sensitive areas, explicitly stating that videography is strictly prohibited and punishable under law.
The move follows an ongoing probe ordered by GMC Srinagar, after NewsEye uncovered a disturbing reel on social media, allegedly recorded by a medical student inside the LD Hospital’s Labour Room. The video, which sparked public outrage, was widely seen as a gross violation of patient confidentiality and medical ethics.
Hospital authorities emphasized that these steps are essential to rebuild public trust and uphold the highest ethical standards in maternal healthcare. The inquiry committee formed by GMC is expected to submit its findings shortly, after which disciplinary action will be taken[NewsEye]
