A massive fire broke out this afternoon in the densely populated Guru Bazar area of Srinagar, resulting in the complete destruction of two residential houses, partial damage to a third, and leaving three injured.
The blaze was reported at approximately 4:17 PM and quickly spread through the multi-storey structures before fire and emergency services managed to bring it under control.
According to officials, a four-storey residential house owned by Rashid Mahmood, son of the late Ali Mohammad Najar, was completely gutted. Another adjoining house jointly owned by Mohammad Shafi Dar and Feroz Ahmed Dar, sons of Ghulam Rasool Dar, was also fully destroyed in the fire.
A third house, belonging to Mohammad Yousuf Jan, son of the late Mohammad Maqbool Jan, suffered partial damage due to the intensity of the flames.
Three people sustained injuries during the incident. The injured have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed Dajoo, Suhaib Shafi, and Riyaz Ahmed Sofi. They were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Fire and emergency teams, assisted by Police, CRPF and local residents, worked for several hours to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and is currently under investigation.
Authorities have begun assessing the losses and have assured necessary support and relief to the affected families. (NewsEye)
