Eidgah Prayers Not Waqf’s Call, Admin to Decide:Dr. Andrabi

Srinagar, 26 MAR: Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board and MoS, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, chaired a key meeting at Hazratbal, Srinagar, to review arrangements for Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida, and Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting, attended by representatives of the J&K administration, focused on ensuring smooth facilitation for devotees during the upcoming religious events.

Addressing concerns about holding Eid prayers at Eidgah Srinagar, Dr. Andrabi clarified that while the Waqf Board is engaged in developmental works—such as the construction of the grand pulpit at Eidgah—the final decision on allowing prayers at the historic ground rests with the administration.

“We are committed to our departmental responsibilities, and the pulpit construction will be completed soon. However, the decision to permit Eid prayers at Eidgah lies with the administration,” she stated.

The meeting was focused on ensuring seamless arrangements for devotees during the upcoming religious events, with special attention to crowd management, sanitation, and security measures. With Eid approaching, the debate over congregational prayers at Eidgah continues, leaving the final call in the hands of authorities.
