In the wake of incessant rains and fresh snowfall in higher reaches, authorities have ordered the closure of educational institutions in multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir as a precautionary measure.
In Kupwara, the district administration has directed the closure of all schools in Machil, Keran, Budnambal, Kumkadi, Jumagund, and upper Karnah till March 17 due to road blockages and avalanche threats.
Similarly, in Ramban, all government and private schools were shut for the day to ensure the safety of students and staff as the region continues to witness relentless downpours.
Authorities in Kishtwar and Gurez (Bandipora) have also announced the closure of all educational institutions in response to the ongoing inclement weather, which has heightened risks of landslides and floods.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued wet weather across J&K till tomorrow, urging residents—particularly those in hilly areas—to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Meanwhile, concerned departments have been put on high alert to respond to any emergencies arising from the adverse conditions.(NewsEye)
