BOSE Defies Court Order, 22 Students’ Admit Cards Withheld

Srinagar, Feb 15, KNT: Despite a court order directing the Board of School Education (BOSE) to issue admit cards to 22 students of Islamic Global School, the board has yet to comply, leaving the students’ future uncertain as their annual exams commence on Monday (Feb 17).

As of 7:50 pm (Saturday), distressed parents, along with members of the Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSJK), were still waiting at the BOSE premises, but employees refused to issue the admit cards. They insisted they could not act without explicit directions from BOSE Chairman Parikshat Singh Manhas, whose whereabouts remain unknown. Calls to him have gone unanswered.

Dr. Syed Souleh Nissa, PSJK spokesperson who accompanied the parents and students, told Kashmir News Trust that BOSE employees had left the office, citing a lack of orders from the chairman. “Tomorrow is Sunday, but they said they will report if the chairman directs them to do so,” she said.

Parents, frustrated and anxious, expressed outrage at the delay, saying their children’s academic future was at stake. “We are waiting like beggars in this cold, pleading for something that is rightfully ours,” said one distraught parent.

Repeated attempts by Kashmir News Trust to contact BOSE Chairman Manhas went unanswered.

With no clarity on whether the admit cards will be issued before the exams, the fate of the 22 students remains uncertain.

The parents have also sought the urgent intervention of Education Minister Sakina Itoo, expressing dismay over what they perceive as the helplessness of the newly elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
